"The first time I let a girl go down on me, I came in my eye."
Come on? Read that above line and tell me you aren’t curious? Not even a little bit? Then stop reading and move on.
If it did pique your interest, then here’s a brief summary that will let you know if this book is worth reading for you.
Jane and Will meet at a wedding where both of them are bored and as Jane sees Will and follows him a little, she sees he signed his name on the wedding guest book with the same sense of humor that she possesses. She decides they will meet, have a small chat and head into the coat closet where they will have lustfull, meaningless sex and then walk away, satisfied and making the wedding more bearable. As things start to materialize just as Jane planned, what she didn’t plan was for Will to suddenly say those words, “...wait, let’s talk. I’m in a weird place right now.”
What transpires between the two are witty but brutally honest letters about themselves. They confess and reconcile with their past. As they correspond, they both call each other out and sometimes, will have reactions to their own letters or the other person’s letter. Self reflection and analysis of the other person. Will they like themselves? Will the other accept the other, as they share their most intimate feelings and past? Will they find the one thing that has eluded them: forgiveness and finding someone that completely gets them? Will Jane and Will be each other’s “the one?”
This book will resonate with you, through lots of tears and laughter.
I give this book 3 1/2 stars but I'm rounding it up to 4.
