THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER! From Jay Asher, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Thirteen Reasons Why, comes a holiday romance that will break your heart, but soon have you believing in love again. . . . "A beautiful story of love and forgiveness."
--Stephen Chbosky, New York Times bestselling author of The Perks of Being a Wallflower Sierra's family runs a Christmas tree farm in Oregon--it's a bucolic setting for a girl to grow up in, except that every year, they pack up and move to California to set up their Christmas tree lot for the season. So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other. Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other. By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb's past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love. What Light is a love story that's moving and life-affirming and completely unforgettable.

It was slightly better than okay, but I don't think I'll want to read it again.
This was a very light and interesting read. I've never known of a family owning a Christmas tree farm before, so it was a true eye-opener, this book. But other than the setting, I'd say the storyline isn't that much exciting, although I absolutely love nearly all the characters. Sierra's truly surrounded by friends and family who love her a lot, and through Jay Asher's writing, there's really no reason to doubt that. I guess that's what's different from other teen books. Still, I can't help be a little jealous that so many guys seem to want to get closer to Sierra, to the point that her father had to make them clean the outhouse just to make it clear she was out of bounds.
Then, there's Caleb. Super sweet guy, and I love the chemistry he had with Sierra. It was mostly fun to read whenever the both of them are together, because there's always an endless amount of teasing. They're both so funny! I'm glad that so many people around him decide to give him second chances after his dark past - because he really deserves it. Some of the things that was mentioned in this book was really thought-provoking.
What I didn't like about this book is... well, I am a hopeless romantic, but this romance story is so cliche to the point where... it's almost impossible - or maybe I'm just not open-minded enough. Still... I couldn't really stand a lot of the things Sierra and Caleb did for each other. It's really too cliche to the point I can't stand it - too sappy even for a hopeless romantic. And the thing is, what they did for each other didn't even leave me tingling with anticipation. It's been a while since I've read a story that isn't flat, huh... it's quite disappointing. However, this was a warm read, and I recommend it to anyone who likes Christmas and the festive season, paired together with an extremely sappy romance and second chances.
