Readers say *Under One Roof* by Ali Hazelwood is a sweet, steamy novella with witty banter, likable, feisty characters, and a charming enemies-to-love...
I am definitely becoming a fan of Ali Hazelwood's writing and definitely want to read more! Although I did enjoy this novella, I wish this had been a full length novel. There was quite a bit of character development for a novella but I loved these characters so much and would have loved to read more of their banter!
Premise: Mara's mentor Helena has just passed away and has left Mara her family home. What Mara doesn't know is that someone already lives there...Liam. Mara is an enviornmental engineer while Liam is a big-oil lawyer (working for a firm he really doesn't agree with). Liam wants to give Mara money to move on but Mara doesn't want to give up something that Helena passed down to her. So can they live together without killing each other? Or is something else in store?
"Helena never tried to set us up. Like you and me. Together" - well, we see pretty quickly that Helena was much smarter and sneakier than they realized. I absolutely love that we start at the end of the story and work backwards. It is kind of hard to see how they ever get to that point which makes it even easier to devour in one sitting.
There are definitely some spicy scenes and if you enjoy enemies to lover, this one is a great one. The banter between the two characters is witty, funny, zany, and just delightful. In the end, the characters really developed a genuine connection and truly cared for each other no matter how things went in the end. I loved Mara's character and just how feisty she is! I really hope Hazelwood considers continuing this story in some way to a full novel.

I was nervous about the STEM Novellas since I'd seen some mixed reviews, but so far, I'm a fan! This one was sweet and steamy. My only complaint--Hazelwood has a type, and all her characters are starting to blend together.
Adorable! A quick rom-com perfect for in between genres. Fun fast paced and cute witty banter. ☺️
