3.5 ⭐️ After watching The Empress, I became fascinated with European royalty beyond the British monarchy, and this book was exactly what I needed to get that high. It’s packed with information, though it did get a bit repetitive at times—probably because the lady had 12 children, and it felt like every chapter involved another pregnancy. Still, it was fascinating (and heartbreaking) to read about the immense pain and challenges she endured. If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I’d say this book is a true “rags-to-riches” story.
