Thirteen
Jack wakes up to machine gun fire when foreign soldiers have invaded his hometown cutting off power, shutting down communications, and restricting travel. To make matters worse, he doesn't know if his dad is alive, wounded, captured, or dead. He wants to find him, however, his mother doesn't care, the soldiers are in his way, and the cop who busted him is no help at all.

This was something of a cover buy. Careless, I know, but I'm a sucker for coloured page-edges.
It was an okay read, but definitely intended for a younger audience. I feel like I would've loved this if I had read it at, say, 13 years of age. The characters were fairly bland, and the plot (crazy guy is crazy, wants to kill people) didn't exactly drip with originality. It's fine for younger readers, but there's better stuff out there.
