Then Came You

Most people dream of falling in love. But all I know of love is that it turns smart people into fools. So, I don't dream, I work. And put distance between myself and the stain of my father's betrayal. When I land a high powered job in London, it feels like I finally have everything I want. Then comes Simon, the gorgeous architect with a filthy mouth who sets my body and my mind on fire. I surrender to the pull of attraction and the promise of pleasure. But those smoldering dark eyes are also full of secrets. Playing with that kind of fire is a fool's game. And I am no fool. So, when our night together ends on less than happy terms, I'm sure it's for the best. Even when a work project brings us back together, I'm determined to keep Simon where he belongs--in my rearview. Fate, however, has a different plan. Simon breaks down my walls one sexy, wicked smile at a time. And I discover that behind his brooding, secretive facade, lies a heart of pure gold. Soon, all I do is dream of his touch, his kisses, and of a love good enough and strong enough to last forever. But I've got secrets of my own. And when they rear their heads, nothing will be the same again. Contains mature themes.

I was in a major book slump and went through some Libro.fm audiobooks I had never gotten around to listening toโ€ฆ and this one was a winner. Then Came You was a great story of guarding your heart and protecting yourself from the shame of othersโ€™ illicit acts and allowing yourself to feel the safeness that love can bring. This story was intense. There was family drama, stepping out of the shadows of othersโ€™ wrong doings, a lifelong investigation that kept popping up like a thorn in oneโ€™s side, workplace sabotage, and so much more. What I liked about the romance is that it had a chic and elegant feel to it. I loved that these characters actually talked, connected and bonded through conversations, being there for each other, and quality TIME (even though Addie was keeping secrets). It spanned throughout London, Paris and NYC which gave it a spicy little SATC vibe that I always love and appreciate. There was actual romance and grand gestures, wining and dining and yessss I was here for it all! And, letโ€™s talk about the sex. It was perfection (and reminded me of the book, The Idea of You). It was super sexy and tantalizing. It was like the sweetest rendezvous, the perfect melody, a stoking flame that stayed heated and crinkling. Perfection! The narrators - Zeta Alred and Mark Ebulue - were splendid. I loved the sultriness of their voices and being able to switch expertly from English to French with silky precision made this a great listening experience. I donโ€™t know why this book hasnโ€™t been all over my feeds, but honey Iโ€™m so glad it found me!!
