It's the way my entire therapy session will be about this book. When I say this book broke me, I am not saying that lightly.

The Will of the Many follows Vis, an orphan of a destroyed city, who is given an opportunity to take revenge and set himself up to possibly overthrow the government that destroyed his family and home.

I was very hesitant to read this because when you see a man on Booktok hype up a fantasy book, it is almost the same as seeing women on Booktok hype up ACOTAR/Fourth Wing (don't go back and look at my ratings of those series- I was a different person back then).

This book is divided into three parts. I'm not the biggest fantasy reader, so it did take me a bit to understand what was going on in Part One. Once we got to Part Two, we learn a lot more and there are more questions being raised. I was very excited to see where everything was going. Part Three is easily the best thing I have read in quite some time. The pacing, the action, the relationships between the characters, the heartbreak, the betrayal, everything, was so perfect.

The way this book kept me engaged like no other book has before needs to be studied. I was constantly thinking about what would happen and wanted to do nothing but devour it. It is an almost 700 page book. She is hefty, she is thick, she is a literal brick. BUT, when I tell you this story is so captivating and hands down one of the best fantasy novels I have read, from the perspective of a man, I mean that with my whole chest.

My only gripe about this entire experience is that I decided to read it now... a whole SIX MONTHS before the second book comes out and now I'm upset because I don't want to wait that long. What I'm going to do in the meantime? Probably twiddle my thumbs and stare at a wall because I quite literally don't want to do anything else but read more of this story.

Okay. Okay. This was hyped and legitimately so.
The strategy, the action, the found friendships, the twists and turns! Well done.
Now, I called a few things, *cough* Emissa *cough* Callidus. But I did not expect that type of ending and Vis's choice. I thought this was a great read and look forward to continuing this journey.

***SPOILER ALERT********************************************************

Can I express how sad I am that Callidus is gone!!! I knew he was likely to die, but I would have been so relieved to have been proved wrong. The Labyrinth with the Remnants sounds terrifying as hell, and it's kind of crazy to me that Vis got through it twice unscathed. Also, can we talk about Diago the Alupi? He is adorably vicious and highly intelligent, but it still seems unlikely he showed up at the right time and continued to protect and watch over Vis - I'm not mad at it though.
