the literary style was a real let-down for me and I could not even finish the book.

Aravind Adiga’s extraordinary and vivid novel explores the corruption and darker side of Indian society, particularly the influence of the Indian caste system. The story doesn’t really begin until about two-thirds of the way through, and the murder seems to lack an obvious motive. Instead, it appears to be an act of calculated cruelty. Despite this, I found myself laughing a lot throughout the novel. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
