The Wedding Crasher: A Novel

Named one of the most anticipated books of 2022 by EW, Oprah Daily, Marie Claire, Goodreads and Bookpage!

The USA Today bestselling author of The Worst Best Man is back with a hilarious rom-com about two strangers who get trapped in a lie and have to fake date their way out of it...

Just weeks away from ditching DC for greener pastures, Solange Pereira is roped into helping her wedding planner cousin on a random couple's big day. It's an easy gig... until Solange stumbles upon a situation that convinces her the pair isn't meant to be. What's a true-blue romantic to do? Crash the wedding, of course. And ensure the unsuspecting groom doesn't make the biggest mistake of his life.

Dean Chapman had his future all mapped out. He was about to check off "start a family" and on track to "make partner" when his modern day marriage of convenience went up in smoke. Then he learns he might not land an assignment that could be his ticket to a promotion unless he has a significant other and, in a moment of panic, Dean claims to be in love with the woman who crashed his wedding. Oops.

Now Dean has a whole new item on his to-do list: beg Solange to be his pretend girlfriend. Solange feels a tiny bit bad about ruining Dean's wedding, so she agrees to play along. Yet as they fake-date their way around town, what started as a performance for Dean's colleagues turns into a connection that neither he nor Solange can deny. Their entire romance is a sham... there's no way these polar opposites could fall in love for real, right?

"Mia Sosa... is genuinely a master of the modern romance novel." -- Cosmopolitan

Oh gosh this was so good! I have so many feelings on this, but I need a moment to think, literally finished it right now. I will be back to edit this review.

For now follow Amor en Paginas (Love on Pages) The Latinx Romance buddy read that I co-host. There will be an insta live with Mia Sosa as we discuss this gorgeous book.

I’ve gotten glimpses of what it would be like to be your person. I’ve gotten a taste of what it would be like to be the one loving you. And it kind of feels like an honor. Like maybe I don’t deserve you. But I want to try to earn a place in your heart

I did not know this book was part of a series but it can still be read as a stand-alone.

It is a light read, I really liked how it started. I loved the diversity and the way Solange's culture was described - her big family and the way they have her back was all nice to see. Dean's character of having respect for women was also good and I liked the way he stood up for himself and others. I was also shocked by the smut in this book because I thought it would have just been a vague line or two, it is readable though for a contemporary romance.

One thing I didn't like was how fast Dean starting falling for Solange. 8 chapters in and he started to fancy her already. Sure he did have some resistance throughout the book but it felt like he was melting for her too fast already and that makes the romance aspect of it a little off. The faking dating/forced proximity didn't seem to give any sparks for me (or them for that matter) it just started feeling fake at some point. The book also seemed more focused on the development of other events as compared to Solange and Dean and it showed quite a messy plot.

I heard a lot about the first book and I definitely screwed up the order of reading since I'm no longer interested in the first but read this if you liked [b:The Worst Best Man|43801254|The Worst Best Man|Mia Sosa|https:i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1576628668l/43801254._SY75_.jpg|68152873].
