Mary Queen of Scots and her shrunken retinue consisting of her best friend, lady Seton, and two servants, are imprisoned at Lochleven Castle in Scotland for 11 months. The narrator gives us insight into each of their insecurities, desires and schemes for freedom and a future. The success of this story is tricking us into rooting for all of them, even when we already know the ending.

A speculative take on her time at Lochleven Castle. I found it exhausting.
