So stinkin CUTE

This was such a cute read! Lily Chu’s characters have so much spunk that I just laugh with the things they say. This story follows Gracie as she embarks being a “stand in” to a famous movie star. And isn’t that what we all wish we could do at one point.

I love how you get to see a behind the scenes look into the life of a celebrity. How they are just objects and how they aren’t always treated as people. This is something that I always think about, especially with Asian idols. Gracie’s want to be in that kind of life, but also understanding why she wouldn’t want to be is nice to see.

The banter between Gracie and her love interest is just so good. The back and forth jabs and the underlying tension, I loved.

I can’t wait to read Lily’s other books! This was definitely a 4 star read and I will definitely be rereading!!

What I love is the closeness Gracie has with Anjali. Anjali is her close friend who is her “ride and die” and her make-shift personal life coach. Anjali is not a touchy-feely person and doesn’t get close to people and yet, she and Gracie are so there for each other. I also enjoyed reading how Gracie and Fangli slowly build a relationship, one that is true, and how Gracie recognized Fangli isn’t just tired but it goes so much deeper than that. This novel delicately handles the topic of mental health and that nobody is excluded from it.

Yes, the story is predictable. Yes, it’s a bit unrealistic but isn’t that what chick-lit books are supposed to be? They take you away and yet leave you feeling all warm and fuzzy at the end. It was fun Rated PG-13 way and very enjoyable.
