Children’s author Isabel Stanley’s staid life is turned upside down when a wrong turn puts her in the path of a spy fleeing a shootout. Once, her biggest problems were writing about Cochrane the cockroach and running interference between her sister and her mother. Now she’s dodging death and dates with equal frequency while trying to protect her heart from Kel Kapone. As a shell game of conflicting motivations plays out, Isabel struggles with who she can trust. While she may be getting fodder for her romance novel breakthrough, will she live long enough to enjoy it? The Spy Who Kissed me is a fast paced romcom suspense set against the first Gulf War. I found Isabel and Kel to be both likable and plausible as a couple. The plot had a great balance of humor, action, and mystery that kept me invested as each twist was revealed. Overall, a fun escapist read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
