I was so hopeful for this book since I’ve heard such great things about it, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. Within the first 100 pages, it was obvious that Ella was Smyth’s wife, yet the story kept dragging on with this back-and-forth between them while he refused to say anything. It got frustrating fast.
Beyond that, not much else really happened to keep me engaged, and I ended up losing interest. I won’t be continuing the series.
If you’re looking for a story that does the “found wife/husband” trope right, I recommend When the Moon Hatched instead.
