The Secret Agent (Oxford World's Classics)

I did not find this book intriguing. The mental manipulation of a lesser character to carry out a murder plot by Mr. Vernon, and the subsequent poor treatment of his wife who married him for the sole purpose of maintaining a lifestyle for her mentally challenged brother and her handicapped mother, was upsetting. I simply did not buy Mr. Verloc's characteras an actual secret agent.
