Definitely closer to 3.5stars. Honestly I think the story is great, and the characters are lovable. It just came to me too late in life. The language and plot are simple, like beginners fantasy. Which is exactly what it is. If I had read it when I was the proper age? I wouldâve INHALED this. I will keep the sequels on the back burner though!
An old favorite of mine. The series as a whole, and this book, in particular, hold a special place in my heart. Flannagan does an amazing job writing characters that you really love and making a fun plot. I love that the protagonists overcome the obstacles through intellect and cunning rather than brute force. Focusing on a ranger rather than a knight or other classically powerful was a great move.
This book will always be one of my favorites, along with its series as a whole.
