This novel seems to be evoking quite mixed reactions. I tried to ignore the Booker longlist aspect when rating. This is so easy to read and enjoyable. This has been compared to 'All Fours' by Miranda July. However, other than the road trip and midlife aspect, I didn't see the comparison and found this a much better read. There's something predictable and rather flat about Tom (protagonist), but I was endeared to him. The ending (in my view) was perfect. It didn't need any more. This is my 7th book of the longlist, and whilst I am not convinced it will make the shortlist, it's a really lovely read.
