The Promise (Booker Prize Winner)

The book has a painfully slow, dull start. Only because I knew it had won the Booker and must have had quality, I kept pushing through and eventually found some enjoyment in reading it.

A gloomy but unforgettable read. The book still comes up in discussions at our Bookclub. The writing took some getting used to… I really enjoyed the Narrator and his quirks. The characters themselves were not likable.
