I hate giving this one star. But what started as a very interesting, well-written book about rival magicians and magic in general somehow devolved into a cheap science fiction story with no cohesion, no soul, and one of the worst endings I have ever read. I want the hours and minutes back that I put into reading this. I was, quite literally, angry at the ending - or lack of ending.
