I don't think I've ever actually described a book as drivel before, but that is exactly what this is.The story and the characters lack direction and purpose.
I get that it's supposed to be a modern day characterization of Nero fiddling while Rome burned. I get that it's supposed to be satire, but it all just fell flat.
I loathed almost every character in this book, and at best I just didn't care about any of them or what happened to them. The satire of the over the top rich people would have worked if the working class people hadn't been portrayed in the worst light possible. The characters that I feel like I'm supposed to like and be rooting for are idiotic with misogynistic ideals (both the husband and the wife).
Many of the plot lines set up are never fleshed out and there is no sort of resolution or ending to anything.
