The book evoked a wide range of emotions in me. The writing was beautifully crafted, reminiscent of "Where the Crawdads Sing." However, there were moments when I felt compelled to set it down, particularly due to the unsettling and explicit scenes of child sexual abuse that lingered in my mind. At first, the narrative seemed disjointed, hindered by an overabundance of time jumps and a multitude of characters, many of whom felt insignificant and disappeared without explanation. Despite this, as the story progressed, it began to come together and became more engaging. Unfortunately, the ending was ambiguous, leaving me dissatisfied. After investing time in 389 pages, I longed for a clear conclusion, but that did not materialise. Overall, while it wasn't the worst book I've read, the disappointing ending significantly affected my perception of it.
