The Other Story: A Novel

If you are expecting a fantastic read like the author's book Sarah's Key, you will be highly disappointed. Nicolas Duhamel is a bestselling author who has let the success go to his head. He is young & arrogant. He is suffering from writer's block while vacationing at an exclusive resort in Italy with his girlfriend. Not much happens during his long weekend at the resort. We do learn more about his past & the story around his best selling book but we never learn about the mysterious disappearance & death of his father. The second half of the book was better but things seemed to wrap up quickly. One thing I noticed & really disliked was the use of such big vocabulary. I read a lot but there were many words I didn't know. Maybe the author was using them because Nicolas' character was so arrogant she felt he needed to use big words. I thought it was overdone.
