Reuben is still heartbroken over Beth, his ex-girlfriend, and is shocked to hear she is getting married just six months after their breakup. His friends plan an elaborate day of distractions to keep his mind off the wedding, complete with Ferraris, champagne, and horse racing. The plan unravels when Beth unexpectedly calls him in a panic on her wedding day. Reuben is forced to face his lingering feelings and decide if he is chasing the past or ready to embrace a different future. I can’t remember exactly which month, but this was an Amazon Prime First Read short story option so I snagged it bc it sounded interesting. It sat on my kindle for a while and recently, I decided to read it and knock this one out since it was a 100ish pages, so at the most, would take me an hour to an hour and a half to read. It was a quick, simple, to the point kinda story. While the bride was incredibly annoying, I found the overall message of this short story to be: love isn’t always perfect, but the right person will push you to see what truly matters. This is a perfect read for anyone looking for something quick and easy or lighthearted. Trigger Warnings: unrequited love, emotional distress, relationship turmoil

This was a very cute short story. What do you do the day your ex gets married? Probably not what happens in this story. On the other hand, who knows what might work for you? A short and sweet tale of redemption.

Charming short story about love. A man hears that his ex is getting married and his friends plan a day of distraction so he won’t think about her. Then, the morning of her wedding she calls and asks him to come pick her up.
