I am grateful that this was such a short read because I don’t think I would’ve been able to deal with Rupert for a full-length book. I know Rupert lost his wife but damn that man was annoying as hell. It’s like his whole personality was his wife and now it’s his wife’s death. My goodness, the MC (Michael) deserves a prize for not jumping over tables just to smack Rupert across the face, he was incredibly disrespectful and intrusive drilling Michael about his failed relationship and it seemed like the group used “he just lost his wife” as an excuse even though they followed with “it’s not an excuse but still”. I was so glad when Kate (Rupert’s sister) stood up for Michael after he spoke to her about leaving the trip early. The bomb that she dropped was crazy but also, how am I not surprised that Rupert was an absolute jerk to his wife? That ending was… WOW, did not expect that lol. I don't think I've ever been more proud of a character than of Michael doing what needed to be done. Good for him! I can be happy since this is fiction, right? Lol. Rupert got what he deserved!
