The mysterious disappearance case developed into a murder case. But the book's most intriguing feature was the steady revealing to the reader that the nourish, Victorian era blend that our characters inhabit is actually a a future reality on a different plant. Forced to flee Earth, the human population have migrated among the planet and starts to seek out new places to call home. Once that detail was revealed the urgency regarding the missing professor and his link to the university and his research began to make more sense. Not a bad pick for an afternoon mystery read.
