The plot would’ve been as good and a third shorter without all the (overly simplistic) moralizing that never satisfactorily got resolved/explained. The actions of Dorie would’ve been more believable if she’d had a more investigative background instead of a mechanic becoming an expert at being a gumshoe by reading one book about it. The writing style definitely made all the characters feminine while trying hard to sound masculine, without being successful. I liked the story idea, which is why I finished it, but not really much else.
