The Last Unicorn

INCLUDES A NEW INTRODUCTION BY PATRICK ROTHFUSS

Experience one of the most enduring classics of the twentieth century and the book that The Atlantic has called "one of the best fantasy novels ever."

The unicorn lived in a lilac wood, and she lived all alone...

...so she ventured out from the safety of the enchanted forest on a quest for others of her kind. Joined along the way by the bumbling magician Schmendrick and the indomitable Molly Grue, the unicorn learns all about the joys and sorrows of life and love before meeting her destiny in the castle of a despondent monarch--and confronting the creature that would drive her kind to extinction....

In The Last Unicorn, renowned and beloved novelist Peter S. Beagle spins a poignant tale of love, loss, and wonder that has resonated with millions of readers around the world.

"Peter S. Beagle illuminates with his own particular magic."--Ursula K. Le Guin

I love this story so much. The film has been my all time fav since I was a child.
The art in the film and this comic is just beautiful.

I can't get over how much I love this story and how much it means to me.

My Review of The Last Unicorn

OR

How I Became Unpopular and Hated Overnight

Are you ready for this?

Brace yourself.

I didn't find this to be an extraordinary read.

description

Yes, I said it.
Yes, I meant it.

I just expected to be blown away. It's about a unicorn for Chrissakes! Sure, the writing is very pretty and often lyrical. I had hoped this would be the case, as I had read [b:We Never Talk about My Brother|3465594|We Never Talk about My Brother|Peter S. Beagle|https:d.gr-assets.com/books/1395145920s/3465594.jpg|3506894] and had absolutely fawned over every gorgeous line. Like I said, the writing was pretty, but it didn't reach that gorgeousness I was expecting/hoping for. The story seems simple...too simple. I feel like I am missing something. I understand this is meant for a younger audience, but there has to be something I'm missing if I'm not gushing over it like so many others, right?

I just thought this was "ok" but am giving it three stars because it kept me interested enough to read all the way through and to possibly pick up the movie to see about that "something" I must be missing in the storyline.

This graphic novel is six issues combined into one complete work of art. We have the words from Peter S. Beagle that we know and love combined with the mouthwatering art of Renae De Liz. It's beautifully done, cohesive, and fairly drips with magic. If you can get your hands on this edition, I'd recommend it. It's wonderful for casual readers and collectors alike.

For the most part, I really liked this novel, but it still was a bit difficult to read too. It dragged a bit and it tended to jump around a lot, which is not the best for people with ADD. Also, there wasn't any distinction of when it had jumped ahead in time you just kind of had to figure it out. The book is also a bit stressful from beginning to end and is a bit confusing in the ways things are explained.
