There’s been a pandemic. You can’t remember being asleep. You can’t remember being awake. How long have you been in this room? How long will you have to stay in this room? Why can’t you see? The doctor’s answers are deliberately vague. Will you make the right choice in the end?
Loved it! Gave me all the feels :)
Another of the Forward stories. In this, we witness a re-entry of sorts. Anne is a scientist, speaking with a patient who is in quarantine following a pandemic. We witness her leading him through an indoctrination of language and memory. Chilling outcomes, reminded me throughout of the emotional poignancy of Flowers for Algernon.
