The Kill List (An Inspector Henley Thriller)

I really like this author - her debut "Crucifix Killer" was brilliant, however, this one fell a bit flat for me - it was very difficult to believe that Det. Henley would even lead this cold case investigation due to conflict of interest, and while the case itself was interesting (*wrongfully accused man waiting to be acquitted ends up dead in suspicious circumstances and real killer on the loose, who was also, evidently, never previously apprehended for his heinous crimes but dormant for 15+ years...?) also a tough suspension of belief point...in any case, it is a tangled web of lies, deception, police corruption that Henley finds herself tangled in alongside marriage drama and personal confessionals from colleagues such as Ramouter... The plot points just didn't work work me - it either felt too procedural or too soapy and it deterred me from enjoying the revival of the cold case.... I will say that I enjoyed the cliff hanger in the last chapter though about the unit's previous boss Rhimes and new material surfacing indicating that he may not have killed himself after all...so the next in the series may work out to be more to my taste - :)
