LOL this is the quickest DNF I've had in a while. I got maybe 50 pages in at most. MC is an idiot, not only does she pretend she knows law and then says things that make no sense, but she just takes the constant and heavy emotional abuse of her mom and brother that is literally every word out of their mouths to her. That is one hell of an unhealthy family dynamic - why would I ever root for them?

Terrible characters, rushed plot, forgettable story.

Fast paced, quick read! Cat and mouse, suspenseful, dual POV, mobsters, some little twists. I enjoyed it!

I was hooked in the beginning but I thought that the ending was missing something. I wish it had more for the ending.

Michelle Campbell lived a lot of the story she writes about. Studying/practicing law, working as a federal prosecutor, and being a teacher. Bringing the element of procedural realness. But outside of that, the book was a little lackluster for me. The storylines outside of the court process felt dull. I think the book needed a little bit of seasoning.
