The best part about this historical mystery was the authorâs attention to historical details about Hollywood in the 1940âs. From Zoot Suits to Walt Disney to the pro Nazi movement in Hollywood it was quite eye opening. On the other hand the mystery part got a little lost in all of the details and much of the viewpoint of the main characters was through a current day cultural lense. I have read every book in this series and I do think it has overall improved with each installment. Itâs not quite as good as Maisie Dobbs but still enjoyable.
