the first half of this book was a total drag, but by the end henríquez was mostly focusing on characters i actually cared about so that helped a lot. it’s an interesting setting for a book but the set up was so boring…

Thoroughly enjoyable, well written fiction surrounding the building of the Panama Canal. Happy endings for all of the characters you come to love best. Passionate and redemptive.
