In the very beginning, I found the narrative and the characters to be lighthearted, funny and enjoyable. There was a sense of 80s nostalgia, but for me, while reading the dialogue between the characters and the inner thoughts of the characters, I kept getting a blend of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Xena: the Warrior princess vibe from this book.
I fell in love with all of Corun's brothers immediately. Chrissie was very fun and said, whatever was on her mind which I love in a sassy in your face female, character lead. I also enjoyed the element of the Valkyries that the author brings to the book and , I would be interested in reading the rest of the series.
