The first book I read by this author, and I was not disappointed. I like how the author slowly feeds you information so as to not overload you with an info dump on back stories and history, the details are well placed. I enjoyed the team made up of Hunter and Garcia. I was able to connect to the police procedure nothing he wrote seemed unreasonable or far-fetched and his explaining of some things was done so as not to make you feel like an idiot.
The serial killing aspect was well written and had enough mystery and twists and turns to keep you guessing, I'm sure if you dissected every word and action you could figure out the killer faster than I did, which wasn't until towards the end for me.
Of course, there were some graphic murder scenes, which I was fine with, and some with cliche dialogue, but I read for enjoyment and not to tear apart every piece of dialogue. Overall, the pace of the story was good, the tension building was done nicely and kept me turning the pages, and does a decent job at the "who did it" aspect. I'm excited to continue reading the series and see where it leads Hunter.
