I had such a love/hate relationship with this book. I went into it blindly and was pretty immediately disturbed by the content, though it was incredibly hard to stop. Its written almost as a stream of consciousness, taking place while a man becomes obsessed with a young girl and decides to kidnap her. Halfway through, the stream of consciousness shifts from his perspective to her’s. I’ve never read anything like it, I loved the formatting and the massive, massive buildup. However, the subject matter and events are disturbing! I definitely felt gross after finishing it, so brace yourself for that lol.
I don’t know how he does it… somehow I was feeling sorry for Frederick at points and had to remind myself of what he had done
