In a cabin in a wood,
A woman by the window stood.

Glancing out, she thought she heard
Footsteps, whistling, something stirred.

Hiding here, she fears the night,
For what's done in the dark will come to light.

She must run fast to escape her lie
Or she'll be the next to die...

The unmissable new thriller from the USA Today bestselling master of edge-of-your-seat reading and screenwriter of Netflix Original movie, The Weekend Away.

The Cabin in the Woods had me questioning my own detective skills from the very first chapter. Every time I thought I had this thriller figured out the rug was yanked out from under me. I was then sent spiraling in a completely different direction. I spent the entire audiobook suspicious of everyone. I loved every second of it. Rose is hiding in a remote cabin while terrified that someone is hunting her through the frozen wilderness. The story moves between her isolated present and the events that led her there. There are layers of family trauma, manipulation, and long-buried secrets that begin to unravel as the story goes on. Each revelation raised my blood pressure and made it harder to figure out who was telling the truth. This book had me hooked. I kept changing my mind about every character only to have another twist prove me wrong a few chapters later. Ryan is a villain who made my blood boil. I found myself rooting for Rose while every impossible obstacle was thrown in her path. The pace never lets up with twist after twist coming at you like a fire hose. The story had me finding excuses to keep listening instead of doing literally anything else. Stephanie Cannon's narration deserves just as much praise as the story itself. She captured Rose's fear, confusion, and determination so convincingly that I felt trapped inside her fractured reality. More than once I audibly gasped during a reveal while out on my audiobook walks. I'm pretty sure the people passing me thought I had completely lost it. Pick up The Cabin in the Woods if you love psychological thrillers with jaw-dropping twists, manipulative villains, unreliable memories, and women who refuse to stay powerless. I spent eight hours yelling at Ryan through my headphones and another hour convincing my friends they need to read this immediately. Sarah Alderson is officially an auto-read author for me. I cannot wait to dive into her backlist.
