I wanted to love this book. It’s got an assassin, new magical races, and a pet dragon. What’s not to like, right? But I just couldn’t connect with the main character. He kept getting out of tricky situation by his powerful friends stepping in to save him. And the insta-love story between him and his wife felt off. Plus, there’s only so many times I can read “Shut up, Loiosh!” Not continuing with the series.
