⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 !! What a fantastical, imaginative, thrilling debut!! The world building is sublime, the character cast is well fleshed out and easy-to-love, and the entire premise is captivating and riveting!

I’m left with some unanswered questions (positive), which I’m sure will continue as we approach other books in the series. And I’m so enthralled with where Amala will take us! Because talk about a cliffhanger?? What?? That totally came out of the blue!! I don’t even know what to think!!🫪👀

I had to push through some of those beginning chapters: I felt like there was a lot happening, yet not much at all at the same time. I still don’t know how I feel about Corrina and Zarek’a romance, something about them being together even after knowing Mia’s been infiltrated just doesn’t sit right with me..though I understand its endearment. And I always appreciate a slow burn. They have chemistry, no doubt! The additional/side characters were somewhat hard to identify in early introductions, and I never really grasped the depth of the magic system until the halfway mark.

The writing is beautiful and immersive, though repetitive in some nuances. These are easily dismissed, however, thanks to the propelling tension between characters, the on-going “what-if’s”, and the sweeping fantasy encapsulated in these pages. The world of magic and politics is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in a high, epic fantasy book before and I’m a huge fan!! Huge props to the author for building something new and never done before in the world of romantasy! 👏🏻

Fantastic story, excited for more!
