I've heard a lot about this book over the last several years and it wasn't quite what I expected it to be. The author has some interesting case studies and points but I felt like it was more informative than actionable. So if you are reading just to learn about how your physical body can respond to trauma, it is a good read. If you have experienced trauma and are hoping to find ways to understand your body or overcome the body's response to trauma, I found it less helpful.
Everyone can benefit from reading this book. Educators and staff in schools should most definitely read it.
This is one of the clearest, most concise, and well-written works on trauma and trauma therapy I have ever seen. I cannot recommend this book highly enough to both professionals and those with a trauma history. It would even be helpful to close friends and family members of those who have suffered significant trauma. This is a book I will definitely be recommending and rereading throughout the years. This is just excellent!
