This book is good for what it is. I guess. It's an interesting crime story and mystery. But at times you do feel like you're reading a parody - the frequency of slang and idiomatic ways of talking is just hilarious and sometimes grating. It feels like you're reading a Conan O'Brien gangster sketch. People are always biting their fingers and hands for some reason. Endless posturing in scenes. It just gets really silly. Lots of pointless or nonsensical descriptions too.
