The Age of AI: And Our Human Future

Three of the world's most accomplished and deep thinkers come together to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the way it is transforming human society--and what this technology means for us all.

Generative AI is filling the internet with false information. Artists, writers, and many other professionals are in fear of their jobs. AI is discovering new medicines, running military drones, and transforming the world around us--yet we do not understand the decisions it makes, and we don't know how to control them.

In The Age of AI, three leading thinkers have come together to consider how AI will change our relationships with knowledge, politics, and the societies in which we live. The Age of AI is an essential roadmap to our present and our future, an era unlike any that has come before.

I love reading about the implications of tech on the future. This is just not well written. As an attorney and a homeschooling mom, I have certainly used language that was legalese or educationese. It's a stilted way of making things sound more complicated or sophisticated than they really are. It's like instead of saying "Oh my god, it's a beautiful day!," Kissinger would write "With a degree of feeling far in excess of that which was anticipated, we observed that the diurnal period had an extremely high degree of visual sensory appreciation."

There were some interesting ideas in here, but it was like looking for the needle in the haystack. I did learn some cool AI facts, like their use in developing medical advancements, but mostly this was just insufficient coverage for a very cool topic. Maybe the field has just advanced too much in the two or three years since it was published that the book is no longer very relevant.
