"The mark of a moderate man
is freedom from his own ideas
Tolerant like the sky,
all-pervading like sunlight,
firm like a mountain,
supple like a tree in the wind,
he has no destination in view
and makes use of anything
life happens to bring his way" (59).
I really enjoyed reading this for book club. I was lucky to borrow Tao Te Ching from my mother's collection, and it's interesting that it's her favorite. My mom isn't really the type of person to like books, which I feel tells you a lot about this one. This translation felt super approachable to a wide audience, and was still enlightening in its own way. I marked nearly every page!! I think I might buy my own copy after I return this to my mom. I will definitely pick it up again at some point!
