After the overarching Rebirth issue and then Superman's Rebirth issue, we now start to get into the story arc for this Superman. Here we see Clark Smith burying the New 52 Clark Kent in Smallville and promising to don the blue suit again after years in the black suit. Through this issue we see Clark and Lois' son, Jonathan, losing control over his heat vision while trying to save his beloved cat from a passing hawk, (killing the cat and hawk in the process) and also being seen by the new girl in the neighborhood.

As the issue continues, we see Wonder Woman and Batman show up to discover this new Clark and his family, while Jonathan looks on from his bedroom window. Having been caught eavesdropping, the issue ends with Jonathan being "invited" to come along with his father (and presumably Batman and Wonder Woman).

The art work in this issue (as it is in Rebirth and Superman Rebirth) is simply breathtaking. I'm curious to see where this story arc is heading. Personally, I'm more of a fan of the major characters themselves and not so much a "passing of the torch" kind of story. While those can be good to help keep a character fresh for a new generation/etc... I'd much rather follow a Clark Superman than a Jonathan Superman. It's obviously too early to tell where this is going, but I hope it's more of a direction to spin off Jonathan with his own series and allow us to continue with this Superman who is now in this new "reality".
