This book was definitely steamier than the last novella! The back and forth between past and present was a really fascinating twist.
Premise: Sadie is working for a new company in New York. She is very superstitious and while getting a croissant in preparation for a pitch, she meets Erik Nowak. The love connection is instant, resulting in a romantic dinner and a spicy night together. However, shortly after their hookup, it seems that Erik betrayed her professionally. As a woman in STEM, Sadie is used to being slighted but she did not expect this betrayal from Erik, especially not after their undeniable connection. Now they are stuck on an elevator together after a power outage. Will the close proximity and silence be enough to crack them both into finally giving each other the truth? The truth that could either push them further away from each other or even closer together...
I really enjoyed that we start in the present and go back and forth to the past. It makes for a quicker read because you desperately want to know what happened between the characters. I enjoyed this one a little more as a novella because I felt like the past/present timeline went well with less than 200 pages. However, Hazelwood does leave the ending up in the air enough that there could be more written about these characters in the future.
This novella is definitely steamier than the last, with some scenes very specific and detailed. I enjoyed this but be warned. I also thought that I wouldn't like the whole "miscommunication trope" but I think because of the past/present switches, it read better for me. Overall, a really great reading experience!

Did not expect the disrespect towards Neuer or the fact that her fave football team is Real Madrid; the fact that they keep winning the champions league :(
My favorite of the STEM novellas so far! I was so nervous about the mixed reviews I’d see for this one, but I adored it. Loved the plot of them being stuck in the elevator together, and their chemistry jumped off the page!
This was a very cute short read! I love Ali’s work! 🥰
i did not like this one at all... both sadie and erik were very annoying to me.
