I really enjoyed this story! I felt some parts were a little slow and hard to get through but for the most part I stayed engaged in the story throughout. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Great magical world and good characters but I feel that the reader is given too many hints about the "secrets" in the book far before the main character has a clue. I did, however, appreciate a competent, strong, well trained and intelligent main character with a quick wit. However, being so smart-I would have thought she would not have been so clueless about herself.

4 stars because I know the next one is going to be even better. Book 1 is a lot of information and world building and I LOVE Penn Cole’s vocabulary. The description of everything and the feelings you get while reading. Amazing - I’m looking forward to the rest of the series.
