ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother's coffin as the world watched in sorrow--and horror. As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling--and how their lives would play out from that point on.

For Harry, this is that story at last.

With its raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is a landmark publication full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

I most enjoyed hearing the Prince's accent, pronunciation of words (ex. "pass-ta" and "priv-issy" for pasta and privacy), and learning some British slang (ex. "todger" - feeds the 12 yo in me :).

At the conclusion of reading, I felt some guilt, sadness, and great empathy. I felt as though I was hearing things I should not have heard, about people whom I should not have heard them. It left me conflicted for having ordered the book, as though I were creeping on people and should have put more consideration into reading on the front-end. Which leads to the empathy. My view is that the Prince is and has been in a transformative space, and I wish he'd have given himself more time to process and sort thru all that he's experienced before putting himself out into the world so openly, and in ways that cannot be undone.

Harry's memoir was everything I had hoped it would be. He's candid and vulnerable, funny yet smart, and I am so happy for him that he is in a place mentally to be able to share his story.
