It took me a few chapters to get into it. But once I was, I loved it! There are some parts I wish were touched on more, some less. But as a lover of nature I enjoyed the character connections. I went in blind and wasn't disappointed.

⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 Great, intriguing, strange but it works.
I need my decimals. I like going into books blind so I didn’t know what to expect.

Content warning for body horror, death, violence, racism, murder, medical abuse, and related topics. I enjoyed pieces of this book, but not the last half. I really liked the forest sections, I thought the setting and tone were haunting and I liked the flashes of Vern's life in Cainland. Where the book went off for me was the conspiracy elements where they started to track Vern down. I liked her relationship with Gogo, but the entire flow of the novel completely changed for me.
