Everything comes together in the end, but throughout this adventure, I was on a roller coaster ride! This book may have had some hard to believe parts, but I was hooked!
You know that moment when your date ghosts you after six whole dates and your totally healthy reaction is to… mildly stalk him, rationalize every eye twitch as a sign of hidden passion, and eventually break into his apartment? No? Just Jane? Cool cool cool.
So Happy Together is the unhinged romcom thriller I didn’t know I needed. Jane is a 24-year-old playwright with a Manhattan apartment, zero chill, and a love life that makes Fatal Attraction look like a Hallmark movie. When Colin dumps her—after six dates, which in Jane’s world equals soul-bonding eternal commitment—she does what any completely normal person would do: she decides he’s wrong and proceeds to spiral into a vortex of delusion, justification, and “accidental” break-ins.
Colin, meanwhile, is just a poor, unsuspecting software engineer trying to move on with Zoe, a stunning, talented, genuinely lovely human being. But don’t worry—Jane’s inner monologue has a thesis-length explanation on why Zoe is the actual devil and Colin just hasn’t realized Jane is The One. These moments of desperate rationalization are both deeply cringe and so hilariously uncomfortable that I physically recoiled…while still turning the page at lightning speed.
And THEN comes the twist. No spoilers, but let’s just say this story went from Awkward Girl Fails at Love to Murder, She Wrote…but with way more red flags. The back half of the book is twistier than Jane’s mental gymnastics, and just when you think it can’t get any messier—oh honey, it does.
Final thoughts: If you’ve ever thought “he’s just scared of how much he loves me” while watching someone run in the opposite direction, this book is your spiritual home. So Happy Together is wild, weird, darkly funny, and will have you whispering “girl, no” into the void—before you stay up all night to see how far she’ll go. Spoiler: it’s far.

This was good read! From the very beginning I was hooked and couldn’t put it down it was very entertaining and I enjoyed this author style of writing!
