Overall, a 3.5 but for the sake of this I must give it a 3. I love Buffy as much as the next fan, but something here was lacking. Don’t get me wrong. This was a fun story and I listened to all of it in one day because it was nostalgic for me. I have a few of Christopher Golden’s Buffy books that were released alongside the show back in the day. I enjoy his work and I adore Amber Benson (Tara). However, some of the voices were a little rough.

*Spoilers*

The Anya/Anyanka thing was a bit confusing because in normal canon lore, vengeance demons DO NOT work that way. I get Anyanka basically wanted to live so badly she formed her demon self, but like…the demon and the human are not separate like vampires are. D’hoffyrn quite literally just makes humans into demons. There is no separation or distinction between the two. That one simple thing really threw me for Anya’s story.

Tara…I love Tara and wanted more for her. I wasn’t a big fan of her story though. I mean the dark Tara was fun, but not possessed Tara. I was honestly hoping this was going to be this universes Willow, but then it wasn’t…

Having Dru back was great. Spike always gives me writing inspiration and Giles being behind on everything until it counts…yeah that tracks.

Cordelia! OMG Listening and finally getting the head canon of Cordelia being a potential slayer and wondering what her life as a slayer would have been like? That was great. I loved that. Plus adding in another slayer…I don’t care what anyone says I like Indira.

Honestly, this story was great, and I loved it, but there’s just a couple things I didn’t like and I do feel like it was lacking on some aspects as if it were missing something more.
