She Drives Me Crazy

“A little sweet, a little sharp.” —Booklist, starred review

High school nemeses fall in love in Kelly Quindlen's She Drives Me Crazy, a queer YA rom com perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli and Casey McQuiston.

After an embarrassing loss to her ex-girlfriend in their first basketball game of the season, seventeen-year-old Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, Irene Abraham, head cheerleader for the Fighting Reindeer.

Irene is as mean as she is beautiful, so Scottie makes a point to keep her distance. When the accident sends Irene’s car to the shop for weeks’ worth of repairs and the girls are forced to carpool, their rocky start only gets bumpier.

But when an opportunity arises for Scottie to get back at her toxic ex—and climb her school’s social ladder—she bribes Irene into an elaborate fake- dating scheme that threatens to reveal some very real feelings.

From author Kelly Quindlen comes a new laugh-out-loud romp through the ups and downs of teen romance, perfect for fans of Adam Silvera.

I really can't tell if I would've liked this more if I'd read it instead of listening to it - audiobooks do be weird.

I have to be honest, I almost dropped this because of how annoying I found the MCs obsession with their ex at the beginning - probably an aro thing. It felt like I'd walked into a movie halfway, the novel starting with the MC recalling nostalgic moments with her ex that meant little to me - I couldn't relate at all.

However, this developed into a cute read which I enjoyed despite the fact that I've read two other fake dating romance books this year. I'd recommend to anyone who wants to feel little butterflies reading about fictional character's cheesy gestures of love.

Also Honey-Belle is the cutest and I would protect her with my life she's MVP.

I loved this book due to the fact that it plays with a different perspective on romance novels. I loved the characters and how they all were way different from each other, from Scottie being the tomboy basketball player to Irene who is a girly cheerleader. I loved all of the twists that came to the book and one of my favorites is when Irene reveals really why she towed Scotties car. I loved the enemies to lovers perspective of the book and just how it was overall written.

I can't decide if I want to give this book 6 stars or 2. It was a rollercoaster to say the least. It was cringey and unlikeable at times but also had some good dialogue and character development.

The way I read this when I’m also seventeen, in the Basketball team, and had a crush on a teammate before: God, I relate to this book sm?? Like Kelly Quindlen wrote this book FOR me and people like me so it wasn’t hard at all for me to get into this book <3 In fact, I finished it all in a day so :)) Idk what that says about me hehe. Anyways, if you love fake dating to lovers, enemies (rivals) to lovers, and sports rom-com, you’ll definitely love this sapphic love story. But honestly every time I reread this, I can never think straight (lmao pun intended?? also when have I ever thought ‘straight’ lmfao), so all I can really say is: go sports sapphics!! (omg alliteration my 7th grade English teacher would be prou—) 2ND REREAD IM. STILL IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK. T_T SOBBING I love women btw
