Spicy read with two cute main characters. Sweet, cute lead up to the HEA. Pretty quick read, so not a lot of depth. Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
First let's start with the scamming of getting a green card for 50K! Then, let's talk about the fact that Sumner contradicts himself constantly saying he wants whats best for Britta while at the same time saying he's 'GOING TO MAKE HER' do what is best [for him], but counter that with her selfishness (camouflaged as mistrust and fear)at times. Finally, let's talk about how the entire novella is completely devoid of reality, oh and maybe the obsession with detailed potentially violent sex scenes. Would it be wrong to say I am mentally smacking myself upside the head for making this purchase, especially as I don't even know why I bought it when I have enough other items to read.

So, in order to stay in the states in the NHL they now encourage FAKE marriages? Great, let's break some laws and call it a romance, but let's not stop at that one specific law, let's break some more and add profiteering to that; essentially he bought his green card for 50K when she stated that was the only way she would do the sham-wedding.
Constantly through out the book Sumner says how he wants to prove to her he's going to be there for Britta and mostly he is an 'unusually' kind soul, especially given the career choice, but at times, you just shake your head when the reality is, he wants what he wants and he's going to do what he wants and *make* her want the same things. Ummmm.... did no one else see an issue with this???!!!
Britta is a selfish profiteering twat, but apparently that's okay since she married a bozo! Her half-brother convinces her to marry a teammate because the team doesn't want to lose him so he needs a quick green card, umm, quick? That's not even a reality. But let's forget about the time, how about the make-out session built mostly on proximity and built up needs that apparently can 'fool' the Green Card Officer. But she sees and opportunity to get what she wants and puts a price on it at 50K. BUT, she doesn't have to live with him, doesn't have to have sex with him, doesn't have to do anything except study with him occasionally in her (now thanks to the 50K, half-owner) bar. So, basically, she commits fraud and also gets 50K sounds like a winner for her? She constantly doesn't do things she should do considering he paid for the service and in the sense of "presentation" -- I mean even his parents are okay with her NOT living with him even though they are married??! So, now they are co-conspirators.
Gone are the days when sex scenes are there but not in vivid detail and now they also include borderline sadism and masochism! Throttling her NECK and she LIKED it! Wow! Shoving her, slapping her??? Oh, and since when is it fun in the middle of sex to start having discussions off topic? What a weird freaking book!
Overall, this book lacks any believe-ability, and while people may read to escape, realism when you're reading this type of subject matter does make a difference.
Would NOT recommend this book to anyone I know, but obviously someone out there would like it?
